And with everything from exclusive high-tech gyms, innovative yoga classes, and everything in between to choose from, those who enjoy putting health before hedonism are spoilt for choice. Here’s a list of some of Ibiza’s best gyms, yoga studios and training options.
The largest leisure and wellness centre on the island, Bfit is located just outside Ibiza Town (around 10-minute drive from Ibiza airport) and boasts one of the most diverse class timetables on Ibiza, ranging from pilates and padél (Spain’s favourite pastime) to spin, body pump and specially targeted endurance sessions. This an outdoor training area and boxing facilities, as well as a fully equipped gym with all the latest high-tech equipment. Set on the shores of the beach, there’s an outdoor area with sea views and an outdoor room bursting with equipment designed to get the blood flowing and heart pumping. Best for fitness fans who like their workouts accompanied by a slice of Ibiza island magic.
One of the main gyms in San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany) on the west coast of Ibiza, Master Gym is an old fashioned sort of place but reliable if you just want a break from holiday excesses or if your hotel doesn’t have onsite facilities, with plenty of weight and cardio machines available. Good for leg day, arm day or a solid run on a treadmill.
Coming with the GHL founder René Heinz seal of approval, Fitness Factory is located in Santa Eulalia, where’s he’s been a regular for more than 15 years. He cites cheap membership, well used but reliable machines, and the quality of personal training as reasons to abandon your hotel pool in favour of an Ibiza-inspired workout. The owner is a former body builder and Jiu Jitsu champion, and his academy is the best on Ibiza.
According to its devotees, Rewild some of the toughest CrossFit classes in Ibiza. All taking place in an alfresco space on the road to San Juan, expect to be physically challenged and pushed to the edge of your limits. Perhaps plan a spa session afterwards or leave some time for a siesta before heading to one of Ibiza’s clubs – you’ll definitely need some time to recover!
