Where to buy an
Ibiza apartment

Needless to say, Ibiza apartments are in particular high demand. For starters, there are more of them, which makes them easier to source. They’re also more affordable than the average villa or finca, and of course, they’re cheaper to run. Ibiza’s main towns are lined with street upon street of apartment and that means that you’re close to all the action and potential nightlife possibilities as well as having good public transport connections to smaller locales and beaches. An Ibiza apartment is less likely to be remote or located among the island’s beautiful countryside, but there are plenty of apartments that offer sea views. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look.

Let’s start with the island’s capital, Ibiza Town (or Eivissa). Listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, Ibiza Town is a picture perfect location with seafront access, attractive cobbled streets, buzzing squares and the added bonus of Dalt Vila, the ancient Medieval monument that the town was built around.

You’d be hard pressed to find a villa with a swimming pool for sale here but what we can assure you is that apartments are easier to come by, especially if you extend that search to the nearby locations of Talamanca, Marina Botafoch, Figueretas and Paseo Marítimo. What you get in Ibiza Town is a realistic portrayal of Ibizan life because many island residents choose to make their homes here and it’s easy to see why. Bustling at all times of day and night, it’s bursting with first class restaurants, bars and shops; it borders Ibiza port, which provides easy access to ferries hopping over to Formentera; and it’s a transport hub that links up with the rest of the island’s main towns. Penthouses here are often in demand, alongside new builds (which are rare) and apartments with air conditioning – in peak summer, as you might expect, it can get very hot indeed.

Outside of Ibiza Town, there are plenty of other locations with Ibiza apartments for sale. Villas are more common out in the campo but in Ibiza’s various towns there are a wide range of options to choose from, including luxury homes like penthouse apartments, air-conditioned two-bedroom apartments, 4-bedroom-flats, and if you strike, apartments with swimming pools. 
San Jose (Or Sant Josep) is a popular choice for those looking to make a permanent move to Ibiza. Combining traditional Balearic life (you’ll often see Ibicencans sipping a caña at one of the many cafés before midday) with lots of bars, restaurants, shops and a sell-all market, San Jose has it everything you need to make a happy home. San Jose also boasts easy access to some of the island’s best beaches including Cala Tarida, Cala Molí, Cala Vadella and Cala Conta and Sa Talaia, the island’s highest point. Nearby Es Cubells is also a great spot for securing an apartment that’s still close to beaches like Cala Vadella and Cala Jondal but it’s a bit more off the beaten track if peace and quiet is your bag. Villas are easy to source within the municipality.

Elsewhere and the seaside town of Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia or Santa Eularia Des Riu) has become increasingly popular in recent years. Island residents love the family-friendly mix of lively town culture and beach vibes, which makes for a winning combination all year round. That means it’s especially good for sourcing a modern villa, finca, apartment or multi bedroom house. Santa Eulalia is also loved by tourists so it’s busier during the summer months and blissfully quiet during the winter months. But what many residents of Santa Eulalia find is that there’s plenty to keep them occupied, not least the nearby beaches of Cala Llenya and Cala Llonga, which are around a 10-minute drive away, and easy access to beach resorts like Portinatx, set on the northern coastline.

In the past, San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany) had a more unfavourable reputation than a lot of other Ibiza locations, but that’s changed in recent years. Thanks to a lot of development, residents and tourists now mix seamlessly here, which has resulted in a really great atmosphere and an influx of different kinds of international visitors. Luxury villas are popular on account of peerless sunset views, especially when there’s a west-facing living room or swimming pool; holiday villas are also high on everyone’s list, and penthouse bedrooms facing out towards the famous Balearic sunset are highly sought after too. Fortunately, all of those real estate options are available in San Antonio and we’re on hand to help you find them.

Over on the other side of the island and the beach resort of Playa d’en Bossa is a great place to buy a luxury home with air conditioning or an apartment with sea views.

Much of Playa d’en Bossa closes down during winter, but this is a really safe bet if you’re buying to use as a holiday home or a rental. This coastal town is home to some of Ibiza’s biggest and most popular clubs so in summer, cool spaces in which to chill post dance floor are always going to be a good investment. For the same reason, villas with lots of bedrooms are also a great asset since many people travel to Ibiza in groups but all want to stay together.
