If you are thinking about moving to Ibiza and are wondering what it will be like to celebrate Christmas on the White Isle, let us help you to allay your doubts and make some clarity. If you fancy the idea of decorating palm trees instead of a Christmas trees, or making sandman instead of snowman, then Ibiza is the ideal place to celebrate the festive season!
Used to be that many Ibiza residents were heading back home for Christmas or travelling to tropical destinations, but lately, more and more locals decide to stay in Ibiza and celebrate the festive season here. Why? Because Ibiza might not be exactly the equivalent of a ‘white winter wonderland’ but it’s definitely a winter paradise for those seeking balmy winter temperatures and a Christmas celebration on the beach!
MILD WEATHER
If you love good weather, surely a sunny Christmas is on your wish list. You will be happy to know that in Ibiza, thanks to the balmy temperatures, you can celebrate Christmas while dining on the beach. There are some beach restaurants that keep their doors open all year round. If you prefer a more intimate celebration, then chilling on the terrace with friends and family while enjoying the winter sunshine is also a viable option.
UNPACKED ISLAND
As many tourists do not consider Ibiza as a possible holiday destination during the festive season, the island is left to the joy of the residents, their friends and families. It’s the time of the year where locals truly experience a strong sense of community in perfect harmony with the island.
LONG FESTIVE
The spirit of Christmas is strong on the island and every village has a packed schedule of events. While in many countries the celebration ends on New Year’s Day, in Ibiza the celebration lasts until the “Day of the three kings” which falls on January 6. This is formally the day when kids get presents for Christmastime. As a tradition in Ibiza, many residents bring their children to the annual parade, in Ibiza Town, where the kings throw gifts, sweets and chocolates to the crowd.
