Properties with heating -often an underestimated advantage
Do you really need heating in a property on Ibiza? This is the question asked by many people, because Ibiza is known for its pleasantly consistent temperatures and its hot, sunny summers. But yes, there are days and weeks during the winter when you will be very glad of having a functioning heating system. It is not just the winter weather that makes heating advisable, but also the fact that property insulation on Ibiza is often not equipped to deal with cold weather and wind. Walls, doors and windows let in far more cold than buildings in the north of Europe.
Heating does more than just provide warmth
Heating in your house, finca or villa also helps you to keep the entire property dry and warm, as due to the proximity of the sea moisture can penetrate the walls, furniture, cupboards and even the beds.
The different types of heating
Various types of heating can be found on Ibiza. The most common type of heating is electric heating – often as a plug-in wall radiator or stand-alone heater. This also includes air conditioning units, of course. Oil heaters are less common nowadays, and are increasingly being overtaken by more environmentally friendly heating installations with solar panels. Underfloor heating is often seen as the most comfortable type of heating, as most apartments and houses in Ibiza have flooring consisting of stone stabs or tiles.
Regardless of which type of heating your future property has, when you pass your first winter on Ibiza you will soon learn to appreciate it.
