Five Top Beaches of Ibiza's North

There are still secrets in Ibiza – things that only long-time residents know, the little coves, the tastiest tortilla, the best homemade hierbas and the best beaches.

While the glam hangouts of the south are definitely worth a visit the real, pure Ibiza is found in the north.

Here’s a little free insider knowledge….the top five beaches of the north.

Cala Serra Ibiza

1. Cala d'en Serra

A little miniature half moon of loveliness cut out of the coastline. Cala d’en Serra is a teardrop shaped bay of crystal clear waters. A row of fishermen’s huts on one side make for a nice sunbathing spot if you don’t want to be on the sand. Bring your snorkel for some underwater exploration.

Aquas Blancas beach

2. Aguas Blancas

This is a must do beach destination. Aguas Blancas could have you fooled that you are actually in the Caribbean. The water has that transparent turquoise quality and the rock out just off the shore is the perfect jump off spot. The little sandwich shack makes excellent snacks even if they do take a while.

3. Cala Xuclar

Please don’t tell anyone about this beach. It is always so quite and crowd free that it’s hard to believe it’s on one of the most popular tourist islands in the Med. The drive down is a little bit hairy but worth the white-knuckle ride. The chirringuito serves up top-notch seafood and is best just as the sunsets.

S'Illot des Rencli Beach ibiza

4. S'Illot des Rencli

This place can get a little crowded but that’s mostly because it’s so small. The trick is to scramble around to find a spot on the fishing hut ramps or the rocks. Snorkel is essential as the channel that runs between the huts and the rock protruding from the sea is full of amazing creatures.

Es Portixol Beach ibiza

5. Es Portixol

This slice of heaven takes commitment, as it’s a good 30-minute walk to get to but totally worth it. Due to it’s secluded location it is never crowded and only true Ibiza lovers make their way down the track. Bring supplies, as there is no chirringuito. The bay itself is almost a perfect circle. Swimming does not get more divine than this.

Now you know one of the reasons why the north of Ibiza is a ‘hidden secret’ of many.
