Nestled on a vast 25,000m² estate, this property is a rare gem that masterfully blends Ibiza’s authentic finca heritage with …
In the summer months, the island of Ibiza, Spain sees an influx of more than six million tourists descend on its shores from all over the world. These visitors come in search of many things: the endless Balearic blues, the sweeping beaches, the pine-topped hills that thrum with cicada song all day long. But once the colder climates move in, most of these travellers depart Ibiza, Spain and make their way back home, content having experienced a slice of the island’s magic.
Except increasingly, that fact is being challenged. More and more people are choosing to make Ibiza their permanent home. Spurred on by summer bliss and determined to have constant access to life’s simple pleasures, individuals, couples and families are choosing to lay roots here on Ibiza, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them.
Once they arrive, this new bunch of islanders come in search of everything from luxury villas and ancients fincas to do refurbish and renovate, to single-storey, two bedroom apartments and south-facing houses with sea views, or and luckily for them, here at GHL Ibiza we’re on hand to help them source their dream home! Boasting decades of Ibiza real estate experience and an unrivalled network of contacts, we can help take away the stresses and strains of moving to Ibiza. As a country, Spain has a lot to offer, and we’re here to show you the best of it.
One place that’s really piqued the interest of potential new residents is the coastal enclave of Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia Des Riu in full Catalan). Once considered an old fashioned tourist resort, in recent years there’s been an upturn in innovative restaurants opening and new bustling bars, and in turn, that’s drawn a more clued-up, engaged crowd.
That’s not to say that Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia Des Riu) isn’t still fantastic but for families, but rather there’s now something on offer for everyone here, and that’s made Santa Eulalia very popular indeed.
Characterised by a long promenade that winds its away enchantingly along the golden, sandy shore, the Mediterranean sparkling in the distance, the beach in Santa Eulalia is lined with bars and restaurants doling out bundles of Balearic charm.
From health food hotspots specialising in salads and juices to traditional Spanish cafés serving croquettes and tortilla, there’s an establishment in Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia Des Riu) to suit every taste. Stop off for a refreshing ice cream, take a moment for an ice-cold drink, or walk towards the stunning Santa Eulalia Marina for a fine dining experience at sunset – every dining destination here is memorable, and just like the rest of Spain, the majority of it takes place alfresco to make the most of the warm summer air.
Needless to say, there are plenty of luxury villas with a terrace and en suite bedrooms available, not to mention multiple bedroom villas, penthouses with panoramic sea views, and fincas just a few minutes walk from the beach. Days in Santa Eulalia (a very Ibizan sort of town) are spent soaking up the Balearic pace of life (think slow by day and speed up by night!), dining with friends, swimming in the sea and heading back home to a luxury villa that’s situated in the perfect spot for admiring the glittering lights of Santa Eulalia (or Santa Eularia) below.
The great thing about Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia) is that it boasts great connections to the rest of Ibiza too. The island’s capital, Ibiza Town (Eivissa), is around a 15-minute drive away thanks to new transports links, and it’s here you get to explore Ibiza’s rich cultural history. Within Ibiza Town are the ancient walls of Dalt Vila, the Medieval fort that’s listed as a Unesco World Heritage site.
It’s also home to world class shops, restaurants and bars, as you might expect, and provides ferry access to the neighbouring island of Formentera (also part of the Balearics), with boats departing every half an hour in high season. Talamanca, the closest beach to the capital, is around a 20-minute walk from the centre of town, and you pass Marina Botafoch en route, with the stunning area of Cap Martinet located slightly further round the coast.
If your dream property in Santa Eulalia isn’t available, it’s worth considering the nearby locations of Santa Gertrudis, Jésus and Roca Llisa, as each of these destinations also has their own unique charm. Santa Gertrudis is set in the heart of the island and draws a similar ex-pat crowd with young families, while Jésus has more of a locals’ flavour, and Roca Llisa is deeper in the countryside. With so much option, it can be hard to choose, so always reach out to us at GHL Ibiza and we’ll gladly help you figure out exactly where your Ibiza home should be.
