Cars groan and sigh as they drive across the sand to Cala Vadella in the south-west of the island. Speed freaks may complain about the lack of asphalt, but lovers of romance are delighted that the main thoroughfare of a touristy holiday resort can still look so charming. In any case, the dirt road by the sea guarantees one thing: motorists have to drive at walking pace! This is a bonus for bathers of all ages, as they don’t have to fear for their lives as they head to the beachfront bars, restaurants and shops.
The bay and its past
Before Cala Vadella was built up with a slight lack of finesse, this bay must have been fantastically beautiful. And despite the building sins that were committed, this stretch of coast has retained some of its original charm to this day: the landscape is raw and elemental, and the rugged, steep slopes covered with dense pine forests. A credit to Mother Nature, who also created the gorgeous white sandy beach and the wonderful sea off its coast, which requires the full palette of blue tones to do justice to its description.
Is Cala Vadella suitable for families?
Cala Vadella is ideal for families with children thanks to its well developed tourist infrastructure. It is also perfect for watersports fans, as it offers a diving school, paddle boats, and a jetty for smaller dinghies and jet skis.
