Stone masonry is the most striking element of this house, designed by Mónica Fullana and Jordi Carreño and located in an urbanization near Cala Conta, in Ibiza.
A composite and summarized image of the house, with its white monolayer facades and its masonry walls in marés stone, a material dear to the Ibizan spirit. A spirit that has also inspired other aspects of the project, such as the local architectural tradition of adding spaces to a home as the needs of the family increase or change. This is how the authors of the design explain it: “Its H-shaped plan responds to the intention of creating small blocks, attached to each other, following the Ibizan tradition, giving rise to a dispersed, non-compact architecture, mixing nature and buildings, extending the length of the façade and thus allowing a greater relationship between the interior and exterior”.
Distributed over two floors (ground and basement), the different rooms communicate through patios that let in light and ventilate the spaces on the underground level. On the white façades, the two large marés stone walls penetrate the interior, marking the main direction of the house. In truth, these walls can be seen from afar, which only have two small holes, giving an idea of packing and solidity. The glass façade that reveals the views of Cala Conta
